Broken cowboys ride their horses
‘cross the concrete plains
and turn to face the sunset
as they race to break the chains.
Escaping from their shadows
on a final midnight run
silhouettes who search to find
themselves beyond the sun.
CHORUS:
Tonight the concrete cowboys ride down the boulevard
the iron horses stampede, tonight they’re running hard.
Tailpipes roar like thunder
behind a smokey trail
the cowboys pull the reins in
to keep them off the rails
Iron horses run tonight
down Hiway 55
racing for the finish line
they run to stay alive.
Can you feel the thunder of their hooves upon the ground
The roar of angry horses is unlike any sound
The tracks they leave behind them always leaves a trail
The iron thunder hoses are racing tooth and nail
CHORUS:
Tonight the concrete cowboys ride down the boulevard
the iron horses stampede, tonight they’re running hard.
