LYRIC

THE LEAF

A thousand years ago
a leaf fell from a tree
it drifted in the wind
and fell into the sea
one day it washed
upon the shore
then in the forest
one tree more.

In time the tree grew old and grey
the wind had made her bow and sway
lightning knocked her to her knees
then time made charcoal from the tree.

A thousand years of yesterdays
have found the writer words to say
the charcoal raises in his hand
the ocean crashes on the sand
it all comes down to these few words
the thoughts I have, you haven’t heard
the days too tong the nights are too
just had to say …
I’m missing you.
